Being Productive At Home is Possible

1. Choose and set up your dedicated working space

Find a space in your home where you can focus.  It can be a corner in your bedroom, at the table in the dining room, or maybe on the couch in the living room. Although some may argue that a couch is not a good working space, it does work for some people so it is important to find a space that works for you. You may also find yourself trying a few places before finding that one perfect spot.

2. Create a routine and stick to it

We all have our own time of the day or night  when we are more focused and productive. Use that time to work on the tasks that require your full attention, focus or creativity. If you are unsure about your productive time, keep a journal and keep track of the times when you accomplish the most. Once you figure it out, create your routine around it.

3. Have a to-do or a check list

It has been proven that having a checklist or a to-do list with your daily/weekly tasks helps getting more done. Prevent procrastination by doing the most urgent and difficult tasks first. Preparing the list the night before helps to start off the day well prepared, knowing what is planned for the day and what needs to be done first.

4. Communicate with your co-workers/partners

If you work with a team or people involves on your projects, make sure to keep in touch and keep everyone up to date. Many tools are available to help teams keep tabs on their projects and keeping everyone informed, some are even free. Try Trello, TeamWork or even Evernotes.

5. Don’t forget to rest and take breaks

Taking regular short breaks will help to stay focused and keep your mind fresh. A 5-minute break can do wonders! Stretch, go out to get some fresh air, talk to your wife/husband/kids for a few minutes or even meditate (use an app to help with that last one!)

Have a very productive day! 😉

Sometimes your to-do list is too long and overwhelming, but help may be at your fingertips. Often times, a virtual assistant can easily take a few tasks off your list. It is a small price to pay for more free time to breath during these testing times. Let’s chat!
